Tom Goodwin for State Senate

 | February 22, 2010

Councilman Tom Goodwin (R-Hamilton) is the best choice to succeed Bill Baroni in the State Senate. We enthusiastically encourage him to mount a campaign to do so, Save Jerseyans.

Goodwin's resume is solid in two critical areas: financial management and ethics reform. A financial consultant by trade, he owned and operated his own small buisness for over 25 years. That's no small accomplishment in overtaxed New Jersey! As a Hamilton councilman, he helped take one of the state's largest towns from a $16 million budget deficit to a surplus in just two years. Goodwin also helped pass tough local "pay to play" laws and initiated a municipal ethics board to oversee compliance with ethics laws by all township employees.

By an objective standard, Tom Goodwin is uniquely well-equipped to assist Governor Christie in tackling the financial challenges and institutional corruption facing our state. The popular local councilman still has the name recognition and community ties to launch a strong grassroots campaign. Recall that he came close to winning an Assembly seat in 2007, losing to Wayne DeAngelo by just 821 votes in a challenging year for most Republicans (save Bill Baroni).

2010 (and 2011) are a different story altogether, and we think Councilman Goodwin is well-positioned to defeat tax-and-spend liberal Linda Greenstein or anyone else the Democrats have to offer.

Run Tom, run!
