Tom Goodwin for State Senate
| February 22, 2010Councilman Tom Goodwin (R-Hamilton) is the best choice to succeed Bill Baroni in the State Senate. We enthusiastically encourage him to mount a campaign to do so, Save Jerseyans.
Goodwin's resume is solid in two critical areas: financial management and ethics reform. A financial consultant by trade, he owned and operated his own small buisness for over 25 years. That's no small accomplishment in overtaxed New Jersey! As a Hamilton councilman, he helped take one of the state's largest towns from a $16 million budget deficit to a surplus in just two years. Goodwin also helped pass tough local "pay to play" laws and initiated a municipal ethics board to oversee compliance with ethics laws by all township employees.
By an objective standard, Tom Goodwin is uniquely well-equipped to assist Governor Christie in tackling the financial challenges and institutional corruption facing our state. The popular local councilman still has the name recognition and community ties to launch a strong grassroots campaign. Recall that he came close to winning an Assembly seat in 2007, losing to Wayne DeAngelo by just 821 votes in a challenging year for most Republicans (save Bill Baroni).
2010 (and 2011) are a different story altogether, and we think Councilman Goodwin is well-positioned to defeat tax-and-spend liberal Linda Greenstein or anyone else the Democrats have to offer.
Run Tom, run!

Endorsing ANOTHER RINO, Matt? Goodwin is about as fiscally conservative as George McGovern. Baroni Part Two, particularly with that pay to play law. Tied Republican hands!

Tom Goodwin is no liberal! Most conservative guy in Hamilton. Would be a major improvement over a moderate like Senator Baroni.

I was very disenchanted with Goodwin's 07 Campaign. In fact, I endorsed Wayne DeAngelo in the TCNJ Signal, because he did not yam on about Clean Elections like Goodwin. I 100% oppose "clean" elections, they don't work. But I'm sure Goodwin has a good record on taxes in Hamilton and the fact is we need GOP Senators.

Goodwin raised taxes. That's the only reason the budget went from deficit to surplus. Doesn't take a financial wizard to do that. More money means more surplus. Duh!
