WHITE OUT: Cocaine in the Obama White House?

Yesterday afternoon, someone anonymously posted a photo taken from his/her iphone. The photo shows three lines of cocaine "cut" on this mystery employee's work desk. You can view a larger image of the picture by clicking here: http://i.imgur.com/Vf7DA.png.
Here's where it gets interesting. Really interesting. Someone else logged on to the same site and analyzed the coke photo's point of origin. This second individual was able to ascertain the location where the photo was snapped since it was taken with an iphone. As you may or may not know, iphones transmit GPS data of where pics are taken when they're uploaded to the web if the GPS is turned on. You can look at the metadata and see where it came from. It's a brave new world!
Guess what longitude and latitude turned up? 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, D.C. That's the White House for those of you who bombed civics in high school.

If those coordinates are indeed correct, then somebody on high has an AWFUL LOT of explaining to do. All I know is that you wouldn't have had this problem in the Bush White House!

It *is* possible to edit the photo's EXIF data to change GPS coordinates and other details. However IMO it's as likely this could be a genuinely pissed off WH staffer as a prankster or saboteur.

It's possible that this is a hoax.
It's also possible that an Obama White House employee -- who is paid with taxpayer dollars, by the way -- is doing cocaine in the White House while on the clock.
Doesn't this warrant an investigation? If you have someone in the White House who is doing cocaine, it is possible that that person could be blackmailed and now you have our national security compromised.
After the "party crashers" scandal where the Secret Service had to take the fall for Obama bringing a bunch of clowns into the White House to work for him, we can't be too sure or too careful.

The operative point - hoax or no hoax, this story is believable. It's an indictment of Obama and the ship he runs.

Not a geologist or geocacher or anything close, but using various online tools I find elevations at the WH ranging from 11 meters to 20 meters - nowhere near the 49 in the EXIF data. Unless I'm doing it wrong, this points to somebody having edited the EXIF data, which as I pointed out earlier can be easily done using tools found online.
Boo...I love it when a good scandal comes to light (and the current WH crowd disgusts me), but unless someone with more topographical brains than me can show otherwise, I think this is a manufactured scandal.

Elevation is known to be the least accurate of all GPS measurements. Why would someone go through the trouble of editing the exif data to change the latitude and longitude, but not change the altitude that is right above it? It took 15 seconds to find an altitude online for the White House. For such an elaborate hoax with possibly massive implications, wouldn't you bother to do that?

I didn't know that about altitude & GPS.
Someone pointed out elsewhere that while you can modify EXIF data it's difficult to do without leaving traces. The created/digitized/modified date/time are exactly the same. Has anyone tried an EXIF editor to see if they can fake it?
I did pull the image into Photoshop & monkey around with the levels to see what else I could make out. Not much, really - a brandy snifter with what looks like brandy in it. Can't make out anything on the razor blade. iPhone cameras are bad enough; in the hands of the average person they're worse, especially in low light.

Brandy snifter? I don't think lower level White House personnel have brandy snifters in their office. Is it possible this is a higher-level person? It would have to be someone who's a bit younger to be posting on 4chan in the first place.
There's no shortage of young hot-shots with tech savvy in the Obama inner circle. I wonder who it could be... wouldn't surprise me if the 4chan people were able to find out! They are very good at that kind of stuff.

Even with the improved GPS on the GS, the elevation accuracy sucks. Even the certified aviation quality GPS's only do a fair job of determining elevation unless there is a local WAAS transmitter...

Not yet convinced. Here's why: I plugged the GPS coordinates provided into Google, Yahoo and MapQuest -- and ALL of them put this location smack-dab on Constitution Avenue, on the Mall side of the street, approximately where E. Execute Ave. would intersect Constitution Ave. if it were extended through the Ellipse.
Anyone get different results? If this is 1600 PA Ave., I'd really like to plug in the GPS coordinates and actually get a positive result.
P.S. Having said all that, this is still bad. What's odd is that there are no buildings to speak of at the location. (Is it possible that GPS coordinates around the White House are somehow obfuscated in the public GPS-coding databases, to produce inaccurate results? Don't know...)

Not that I find it unlikely that coke is and has been used in the White House of several administrations, but this particular thing stinks.
My gut instinct is that someone manipulated the metadata in the picture. There are very few working offices in the White House itself. A staffer would almost certainly be crammed into the wings. Moreover, my strong suspicion is that in the close proximity of the White House, there will be GPS jammers and scramblers, so any picture actually taken on the white house grounds would probably report a coord off by a 100 yards or more.

Is anyone surprised? The flap-eared usurper in the white house has admitted to a lot of drug use. He said he couldn't do coke because he didn't afford it. He can now. It does explain a lot of what's happening in Washington now. Only a stoned fool would think that anything they are doing is right.

Piece of cake to edit the EXIF data. Plus, the photo totally looks staged for effect (i.e., no one uses a double-edged razor blade to chop coke, and certainly wouldn't lay it across a 'rail').

I'm not a supporter of this administration but, if this pic is factual, then I would have to say that this person has some large kahunas. More so than the last Dem. administration. You know, "I smoked marijuana but I didn't inhale."

ok, so what we've got here is a blown outta proportion, 3 yr old article. an overhyped, partially true story. why waste our time with this? first off, NOONE knows whether we can believe you ot not. second, even if it is true, it turns out that it's apparently someone attending a party @ white house, not a member of the gov't. lastly, you claim obama confirmed his cocaine use as if it was yesterday or something. just like him admitting he'd smoked weed. it was something in the past. good god it must be a slow work day @ this website, but seeing how it includes the word 'jersey' in it, it must be garbage.

Im familiar with metadata,, however im going to assume that in this day and age it is very possible to hack/edit it. This would be a prank right up 4chans alley. but then again,, who can know for sure? Maybe time will tell
