Google Applies Different Rules for the Obamas than the Bushes

 Matt Rooney | November 25, 2009

If you did a Google image search for "George W. Bush" during 2006, 2007, or 2008, you'd find some pretty offensive stuff! Pictures with Bush photo-shopped to look like Hitler, Bush's head cropped on to a monkey's body, and plenty of other disgusting computer-generated graphics, Save Jerseyans.

Now it's 2009, and Michelle Obama is the unfortunate subject of some idiot's spare time (read about the infamous "monkey" image here). This time, however, Google is actually apologizing as well as removing the offensive image from global search results.... treatment George W. Bush never received from the notoriously liberal online search engine.

Racism is a terrible thing because it mocks the dignity of God's creation. It's one of the most dangerous forms of ignorance. But where do we draw the line insofar as Google's willingness to selectively censor such behavior? Will Google protect just liberals from tasteless satire and smears in the future?

What a world we live in...

You are really dispicalbe at times Matt. If you can't see that there's a difference between an elected official, and that man's wife, who happens to be the First Lady, then I think you need some serious help. Please let me know the last time you saw a picture depicting Laura Bush as anything remotely resembling a monkey. Or any other picture of Laura Bush in an unflattering light. The President is fair game, but his family should be off limits. Maybe you'll understand that when you grow up.

    I blame your parents.

Ummm.... this post seems to be about censorship, not the vulnerability of first families.

Leave it to a liberal to not understand the difference!

Not so much about censorship as respecting the privacy of a family. I would think they would have done the same thing if someone attacked Laura Bush this way. But, I can see how you wouldn't get THAT. Its OK to attack the President's wife, as long as she's a democrat. Typical double standard coming from the neo-cons.

Privacy? What the hell does this have to do with privacy? It's about censorship, asshole... blocking bad images of Dems but letting Republican get smeared.

Libs invented double standards! Tolerance and political correctness apply... unless it's attacking someone with an R after their name!!!

I had to dumb it down to something you could understand. Probably educated in an Abbott district, I suspect?

So, now you're degrading people that are less fortunate than you...although, with your skills, I would doubt that they are. And, its certainly not surprising given your lack of social skills and its very typical of neo-cons. You should also be named the cowardly lion since you hide behind a ridiculously stupid moniker.

Ironically, probably due to all the controversy surrounding this and people searching for the taken down picture, when you Google "Michelle Obama," it now says "Related searches: Michelle Obama Monkey"
