Why I NEVER Get Flu Shots!

I have never, in my adult life, ever gotten a flu shot. The reason for this is that often times, whenever I came across people who received flu shots, surprise, surprise, they ended up with the flu. Needless to say, I have not had the flu since I was 12 years old. As it turns out, there may be other drawbacks to receiving a flu shot. Drawbacks, albeit rare in nature, that could be downright devastating as evidenced in this story on 26 year-old Desiree Jennings, a once aspiring Washington Redskins cheerleader.

While I would never try to talk anybody out of getting a flu shot if they feel it's in their best interest and I am a strong proponent of children receiving their routine vaccinations at a young age, incidents such as this, in my opinion, call in to question the safety of the swine flu vaccine. Just how safe is this vaccine and what precautions are being taken to assure that safety? If Desiree is proof of anything, it's that rushing such a thing could have irreparable ramifications.

What I would like to know from my fellow Save Jerseyans is if any of you are going to be receiving this vaccine and why. This may come as a surprise to you, but I'm going to pass!
