Detached Obama's Political Correctness is Going to Get Us All Killed

Matt Rooney | November 10, 2009

For your consideration, this is the dictionary definition of "terrorism" (noun):

"The use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes."

Now let's reevaluate the disaster at Fort Hood. Last Thursday, an Islamic military officer committed mass murder at a U.S. Army base. We subsequently found out that Major Hasan wasn't just a "lone nut" that had cracked:

"Hasan's alleged extremist beliefs were apparently a cause for concern amongst some of his peers. While at USUHS, Hasan was disciplined for "proselytizing about his Muslim faith with patients and colleagues"[44] as well as for an incident in which a lecture, expected to be of a medical nature, became a diatribe against "infidels."Army doctor Val Finnell complained to superiors about Hasan's statements. Finnell said, "The system is not doing what it's supposed to do. He at least should have been confronted about these beliefs, told to cease and desist, and to shape up or ship out."[43]

And now we find out that he'd contacted Al Qaeda:

"U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda, two American officials briefed on classified material in the case told ABC News.

According to the officials, the Army was informed of Hasan's contact, but it is unclear what, if anything, the Army did in response.

Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-MI), the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, said that he requested the CIA and other intelligence agencies brief the committee on what was known, if anything, about Hasan by the U.S.intelligence community, only to be refused."

So why in the world is everyone from President Obama to Doctor Phil urging us to avoid "jumping to conclusions" regarding Hasan's "connections to terrorism"?

Newsflash: this was terrorism!
It satisfies the dictionary definition of terrorism, doesn't it? Hasan undeniably 1) used violence (killing numerous soldiers) for 2) a political purpose (support for the radical Islamic ideology/agenda). Don't complain to me if you don't like it.... take it up with the good people over at Merriam-Webster!

President Obama's inability to acknowledge the obvious -- that this was the first terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11 -- is profoundly disturbing in light of the objective facts surrounding this incident. Political correctness is certainly a factor here. I'm not suggesting that we begin rounding-up Muslim Americans and deprive them of due process rights. The unconstitutional detention of American citizens is something that only Democrats do (see FDR and Japanese internment). But until "Asian men," "white women" or another demographic group starts shooting-up military bases or suicide-bombing buildings, then it's certainly appropriate to subject Muslim service members to an extra layer of scrutiny.

Yet more disturbing than even the political correctness component to this story is the fact that President Obama almost seems bothered by the Fort Hood massacre. I distinctly get the impression that Obama is emotionally detached from the Fort Hood massacre, caring only about seeing-through his radical domestic agenda to completion and that's all, folks! Foreign policy concerns, including terrorism, are treated as distractions by a White House preoccupied with accomplishing "change" here on the home front. For a shocking reminder of Obama's priorities, watch this Summer '08 video where he vows to disarm America.

I ask you: what good is "universal" healthcare if Barack gets us all killed, Save Jerseyans? Maybe the Congressional conference committee should replace abortion insurance mandates with terrorist attack coverage, since this president's behavior is only going to invite more danger into our communities over the months and years to come.

Matt, you hit the nail right on the head. Although right now the Fort Hood incident seems different from previous terrorist attacks since so far a "terrorist organization" has not claimed involvement in it, it is still a terrorist attack if this guy used violence to further a political purpose. All signs point to the fact that this guy was a Muslim extremist and murdered these innocent people as an expression of his beliefs.

You are ABSOLUTELY WRONG on this Matt...Bush and Cheney not only rounded up American Citizens, but put them in detention with no access to lawyers.

WASHINGTON -- The American Bar Assn., the nation's largest lawyers' group, on Tuesday condemned the government's secret detention of hundreds of immigrants after Sept. 11, demanding to know who has been held and why many detainees have not received legal representation.

In Norfolk, Va., meanwhile, a federal judge also sharply criticized the Bush administration, saying it has mistreated a U.S. citizen, Yaser Esam Hamdi, by detaining him for months without charges or access to a lawyer.

The administration, the Pentagon and the Justice Department have staunchly defended their actions, saying the secret detentions were needed because the nation is at war with an unseen enemy: terrorists who aim to strike again and are hiding within the U.S. borders.

And your vitriol against anything Democratic is starting to get really old now.

The Democratic Party desecrates the U.S. Constitution on a daily basis. Forgive me if we start to take it a little personally!

The Bush Administration never knowingly deprived an American citizen of rights they were entitled to under our legal system. If someone is a stateless fighter acting outside of the confines of our civilization, then I don't really care what happens to them because they're NOT protected by our founding document. It's not a death pact.

        Amen, to the above, Matt.
It really is a shame we have to treat them as well as we do. If I had my way, I would round the illegals up and DEPORT them IMMEDIATELY! After all they are here ILLEGALLY!

What part of ILLEGAL don't you foolish, naive, ignorant, stupid, cowardly, traitorous LIBERALS not understand?

Well, thanks for that Matt...thanks for reinforcing the fact that republicans are just mean spirited by nature.

I knew I was on the right side, but never really how much on the right side until someone like you opens their mouth, or keyboard in this instance, and just starts spewing nonsense.

And I really don't expect you to care...about anyone or anything...I keep forgetting sometimes...that you're a republican and you don't really care about anything other than advancing your own cause. People be damned.

          Hey Rick,
Do you really think Obama/PEELOSI/Reid care about you personally or anyone else who might be unemployed, for that matter? It'll be THEIR policies, not those of the GOP that wreak further economic damage and higher taxes on the country.

Stop repeating Moveon.org, ACORN and DEM Party talking points and think for yourself.

The government does nothing well EXCEPT national defense. Look at Soc. Sec. and Medicare. I wouldn't believe anyone from the federal government if they told me "day was light, night was dark and water is wet."

Wake up, government is NOT the answer, but more government is the PROBLEM.

Stop being a DEPENDENT and a lemming!

Well Paul...please point out where I say anything about illegals? The man was in our military. The man that was detained for months by the Bush administration was a US Citizen, not an illegal. He was witheld his constitutional rights...all because of his name and ancestory. But, I guess that doesn't matter to you since he wasn't a true blue, dyed in the wool, member of the judeo-christian community. He was different, so they held him without due process. But I guess, to you, that's ok.

Maybe you are really the lemming here Paul, since you obviously have followed the Limbaugh mantra.

Also Matt...to say that the Bush Administration didn't knowingly hold US Citizens without benefit of due process or a lawyer, as stated in our constitution that you so rightly point out, is fairly stupid...I guess when that US Citizen was held for months, as stated in the article, maybe he never mentioned he was a citizen...right?

I'm probably kinder to you than anyone else in your life, Rick!

Unlike you family and friends, I'm refusing to indulge the delusions planted in your brain by the likes of Michael Moore.

    Today's lessons:

    1) George Bush never attempted to deny constitutional rights to American citizens. Remember: the Constitution is interpreted by the courts. What you believe to be "unconstitutional" is immaterial, Rick.

    2) Calling someone "mean-spirited" is a childish way to get out of an argument. Every day, the Democrats are finding new ways to make people dependent on the government by redistributing increasingly huge quantities of the taxpayers' paychecks.

I have every right to resent that, and I won't apologize for verbally slapping you around when you suggest that I'm somehow "mean" for not wanting to let Nancy Pelosi decide my finances for me!

How can you look yourself in the mirror every morning when your political outlook demands that the government take care of you? I can't respect that....

Rick is correct to a point, George W Bush did not understand his own laws.

Ilegal combatants are not entitled to any of the rights we have. Hence the word illegal. They are also not entitled to Geneva convention rights because they are not part of any standing army. Any rights they do have would be dictated by any treaies we have with their country's of orgin. If we have no treaties with them or their home country's dosavow them then we can as we please.

Case in point as to the idiocy of the Bush administration. Jose Padilla could NEVER be an illegal combabtant because he was an American citizen. So no GITMO for him. He is fully entitled to lawyers, jury trials, miranda, etc, but he ALSO should have been charged with treason, which of course he was not.

Now the Fort Dix Six as they were called. Five of the Six were illegal aliens. Therefore the moment they were captured off to GITMO they should have gone. No lawyers, no trials in this country, nothing! And if a Judge complained you say the following:

The United States Judical system has no jurisdiction over non citizens as it relates the foreign policy of the United States. And when some lawyer in funny clothes demands they be brought before them, you simply repeat the above and tell NO, and move on.

The constitution means what it says, but it is Bush and Clinton who have seen to it the last 16 years that my birthrite as an American citizen has become totally meaningless and is not transferred to anyone and everyone who happens to just be standing on US soil at the time.

Does Joe Stack (who flew his plane into an IRS building in Austin) also qualify as a terrorist? He seems to have 1) used violence for 2) a political purpose.

If so, why is there no SaveJersey blog post about the failure of our leaders to call him a terrorist? Is it because Hassan was Muslim and Stack is not?
