A Bad Tone

Matt Rooney | November 5, 2009

With Democrat friends like these, why does Corzine need Republican enemies?

Check out what State Senator Raymond Lesniak had to say when asked to comment on Corzine's lackluster turnout in Union County:

State Sen. Raymond Lesniak (D-Union) lay the blame for those numbers directly on Corzine.

"You just don’t get the vote out at election time and be successful. It has to be a year-round communication, a year- round interaction," Lesniak said. "The governor turned his back on the political establishment that supported him throughout his political career. He was totally isolated by political reality and surrounded himself by people who were totally isolated by political reality."

Lesniak said there was a "bad tone" in the Corzine administration that carried through from the first days of the transition to the end.

Ouch! But I'm a bit confused by your remarks, Senator. Governor Jon Corzine raised taxes across the board, increased government spending dramatically, genuflected before the labor unions and allowed corrupt machine politicians to operate freely. So why in the world would a Union County Democrat Boss have anything to complain about???

You got exactly what you wanted in 2005, Ray: a pushover and an enabler in Drumthwacket. Unfortunately for the N.J. Democrat Party and its robber baron bosses, Corzine wasn't what the people of New Jersey wanted in 2009!
