WE TOLD YOU SO: Corzine Runs Scared from Gay Marriage Debate
Matt Rooney | September 29, 2009
Zebulon Pike called it back in December 2008:
Zeb nailed it. After promising gay supporters action on a pro-gay marriage agenda, Jon Corzine is prepared to punt the decision to a point and time both after the 2009 Election AND when voters cannot make the decision for themselves! According to various reliable news reports:
What a coward this guy is! You're either for it or against it, Mr. Corzine. Talk is cheap. Your party controls the state legislature. Act on gay marriage NOW by allowing a public vote on its fate in November 2010 or, if you're so inclined, admit your cowardice to the New Jersey gay community which you so callously hoodwinked into supporting you.

Zebulon Pike called it back in December 2008:
"The Democrat leadership knows gay marriage could have the effect of splitting the electorate in a year where Democrats may face challenging political conditions.Democrats in LD-1 don't want to run on gay marriage, and my suspicion is they're not alone. In a way, he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. I'm betting that the pro-gay marriage lobby isn't strong enough to overcome the realities of an ominous electoral map (at least in 2009)."
Zeb nailed it. After promising gay supporters action on a pro-gay marriage agenda, Jon Corzine is prepared to punt the decision to a point and time both after the 2009 Election AND when voters cannot make the decision for themselves! According to various reliable news reports:
"Momentum is slowly growing among Democrats in the Legislature to pass a bill allowing same-sex marriages during the lame duck session following the November general election.
But Republican lawmakers at a Statehouse news conference said they preferred an amendment on the 2010 November ballot that would propose changing the state's constitution to permit marriage only between a man and a woman."
